Project in Bhumi: Little Einsteins – Science

City/State: Mumbai/Maharashtra

Tell us a little about yourself!

I am a final year B.Pharm student. I am an outgoing person, great foodie, love to read novels and play outdoor games. Have been part of Bhumi for the past two years and a sensitivity cell named Dayitva for past one year.

How did volunteering with Bhumi happen?

My friends and I were really bored, having nothing to do on weekends and then bhumi happened through their recruitment drive at our college. First event with Bhumi was a run at Sanjay Gandhi National Park 2 years ago.

What change did these experiences bring in your life? How has Bhumi altered you, personally?

Change, it is really a small word. Bhumi has actually helped me evolve in both personal and professional aspects – confidence, professionalism skills and many more.

One most memorable incident in your life as a Bhumian:

One most memorable incident is Ignite fest, where kids themselves came forward with enthusiasm to create several projects. Another one is Joy to the World where we see smile blossoming on their faces when we fulfill their wishes.

Tell us about one Bhumian, who has been an inspiration.

Deeksha has been an inspiration for me at Bhumi. I have got to learn lots from her. Her calmness and diligence in many situations inspired me.

Any specific, special moment with kids or volunteers you would like to share with us?

There are many. One was when I was teaching a dull content and I knew it would take efforts on my side to grasp their attention; but to my surprise they asked me if we will play football together after the class, then they would play complete attention for next two hours. That was really memorable.

A message to every volunteer at Bhumi:

I would just say that small kids are clay and even though you just spend two hours of a week them with them, you shape them in many ways. When you join Bhumi, you actually take a step towards their progress and their future well-being.
