Harish Ananth has been volunteering with Bhumi since 2014 and currently leads REFRESH team nationally.

Tell us a little about yourself!

I am a  happy go lucky positive person who is trying to balance the negativity in the space by spreading positive vibes. I love to eat,  travel, explore and live in the present; and not worry much about the future.

I have been part of  various program like Ignite, Catalyse and Refresh during my four years of association with Bhumi. I am looking forward to contribute as much as I can for our kids to Dream, Discover and Dazzle!

How did volunteering with Bhumi happen?

Bhumi was collaborating with my college during my college days and I got to know about Bhumi through facebook as well. I was curious to know about the organization. After my orientation, I got to attend a Nakshatra prep meet for the talent fest and the rest is history!

What is your strength and how does it help you as a volunteer?

My biggest strengths are adaptability and willingness to learn. No one would have thought I’ll take up leadership roles some day. But I was a passionate learner and I was willing to adapt to situations and people which helped me a long way. I have always believed the fact that together we can do more. Loyalty and Team spirit is something I have been developing over the years to become a successful volunteer.

Share your experience in the event that you have been actively participating in.

I have been actively participating in many events. However  City Hunt 2015 where I was given a major responsibility to coordinate a part of it and Nakshatra Bengaluru 2017, which I  mentored will always stay close to my heart. Nakshatra in particular, is the best event that all Bhumians will be proud of.

What change did these experiences bring in your life? How has Bhumi altered you, personally?

Bhumi has brought a tremendous change in my life. It has transformed me in to a better individual both personally and professionally. Being in projects like Refresh and Catalyse helped me develop various skills. And I shall always owe Bhumi for this.

What keeps you motivated to continue volunteering?

The happiness that I get when I give back something to the society. The positive energy of my co-volunteers, and the smile of kids who are benefited;  motivates me and keeps me going.

Any specific, special moment with kids or volunteers you would like to share with us?

I have so many cute moments as many as the number of Stars in the sky. But the most precious one is when the little Stars that belongs to the ground shouts “Thank you Anna and thank you Akka” when they go out of the Nakshatra venue. Only people who have experienced it can feel this.

A message to every volunteer:

I volunteer because I strongly believe in the saying that “Volunteering is not a choice, it’s responsibility”
