We cannot underestimate the significance of teachers in our lives and in society. While passion for teaching cannot be learned, there are other skills and knowledge which can be developed and shared to improve as a teacher and impart better learning.
Super Teacher Workshop is one such endeavour by Bhumi to help our budding teachers become better and make a greater impact on society.
This November, Ms Nithya Vasu (who has over a decade’s experience in teaching) facilitated a workshop in planning and preparing teaching-learning materials using rubrics for students’ assessments. Ishwarya R, one of the attendees shares her experience:
“All of us had such an insightful and interesting time at the Super Teacher Workshop. We were all amazed by the trainer’s experience and achievements. She delivered some brilliant ideas on how to assess the children not only at the end of the year but also after every session. The workshops also posed an opportunity for us to discuss amongst ourselves the difficulties we face as teachers, and how by brainstorming and ideating, we could find solutions for the same. In addition to the main topics of assessments, Ms Nithya was kind enough to share some really exciting ideas that we could implement in our classes to help children increase their focus and develop more interest. We look forward to more such workshops from inspiring trainers like her.”
We at Bhumi believe that teachers play an important part in moulding their students into responsible citizens of the country. Through these workshops, we hope that the young and passionate volunteers will help us drive our cause for education in the right direction.
Bhumi’s Ignite Programme at shelter homes, supported by corporates like Oracle, BNP Paribas, Flex, and IM Gears Pvt. Ltd., provides supplementary education through weekend volunteering.
