The Right To Education Act, 2009 (RTE) works towards safeguarding the Fundamental Right of a child’s Right to Education. Section 12(1)(c) of the RTE Act, 2009 mandates a minimum reservation of 25% seats for the free admission of children belonging to weaker sections and disadvantaged groups in entry-level schools (LKG and Grade 1 classes) of private, unaided non-minority institutions.
2021-22 RTE Statistics – Across TN:
Total number of RTE schools: 8437
Total number of RTE seats available: 1,08,978
Total number of students admitted: 56,166
Due to lack of awareness, 48.4% of the seats are being unfilled across Tamil Nadu.
Thus, Bhumi has been tirelessly working along with the help of its volunteers. Over the last 4 years, we have been able to bring in significant changes in the number of people becoming aware of this opportunity and also in the number of children who have been able to avail free education through RTE.
