Job Description: Associate to Lead – HR, Community programme
Location: Chennai
The HR role is an integral part of Bhumi’s community programme. The candidate will connect every team member and be responsible for building a strong, empathetic team culture with effective coordination across tutors and other team members.
Primary Responsibilities include:
- Plan and strategise HR aspects of staff, tutor recruitment, engagement and management
- Interviewing and short listing tutors
- On boarding and induction of all staff
- Support, engage and strengthen communication and participation among the team
- Gather feedback, consolidate, analyse and help implementation of action points
- Maintaining profiles, documentation for all staff
- Tracking and reporting attendance, leaves, payroll processing etc.
- Address HR grievances along with rest of leadership team
- Recognize and document highlights of project for our patrons
Preferred Education Qualification / Experience:
- Work experience – essential
- Must have prior experience in employee management
- Graduation or Post Graduation in Human resources management (Preferred)
- Prior volunteering experience (Preferred)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Reasonable understanding of the non-profit sector
- Good communication and influencing skills, combined with the ability to work under pressure
- Good engagement and listening skills
- Strong networking and interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English and Tamil
- Emotional maturity to empathize with the perspectives/needs of team members
- Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently
- Forward looking thinker, who actively seeks opportunities and proposes solutions
- Sensitivity and empathy with the vision, mission, values and programmes of Bhumi
- Resourceful, responsible and self-starting

- Scope: Full time
- Remuneration: Rs.2,10,000 –2,40,000 per annum

About the Program:
Bhumi’s community centre program is an after school support provided to children from classes 3 – 8 in selected slum communities. The centres are run by tutors from the community and supported by Project Delivery Associates.
The programme aims to provide:
- A safe, positive and healthy environment for children after school.
- Academic support to ensure Tamil and English literacy and Mathematical skills are honed age appropriately.
- A trigger to social consciousness for the young minds
- A platform to discover and explore one’s individual talents.
