It rained joy, happiness & sandwiches on the streets of Karvenagar, Pune on the morning of 6th October!
The day was filled with fun, food and an unwavering spirit to give back to the community! With smiles which shone brighter than the sun, more than 200+ volunteers from the Pune team, comprising students, corporate employees, families as well as some of our beneficiary children, gathered all the ingredients and put together delicious sandwiches as a part of DaanUtsav.
Celebrated every year from October 2 to 8, during Daan Utsav people perform acts of kindness by giving their time, material or money in interesting ways to any cause(s) they believe in.
3,000 sandwiches were made and distributed in various places including orphanages, flood-affected areas & nearby slums.
Namrata one of the participants was brimming with pride as she shared her experience with us: “Participating in Bhumi-organised Seva Sandwich gave me a platform to make everyone smile & feel happiness. I did things that I’d never even dreamt of doing while working together with the team and gaining an experience of a lifetime!”
The event also provided an opportunity for the volunteers to interact with each other and share their experiences.
Adheesh, another volunteer enthusiastically shared his 2 cents about the event saying “Out of all the Daan Utsav events, Seva Sandwich caught my attention because I thought it completely fits the tagline – Joy of Giving. Even after toiling for more than 4 hours, the smiling faces of everyone at the end showed how satisfying experience it was, for us. Our small gesture was indeed very successful in spreading joy to the needy.”
We would also like to thank Feeding India and the Robinhood Army for helping us with the distribution.
“It’s not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.”
― Mother Teresa
This spirit of giving with love came alive in our Seva Sandwich event and it would not have been possible without the sincere efforts of all our volunteers.
